Information for New Tutorial Users on Unix Platforms
Install Netscape (if you haven't already)
RealPlayer is required to run our files. However, for Unix, RealPlayer registers itself as a helper application for Netscape. So, when surfing our links, you need to use Netscape. You also need to install Netscape before you install RealPlayer so RealPlayer can detect your copy of Netscape during installation and align with it correctly.
To download, go to http://wp.netscape.com/download
Choose which version of Netscape you want to download and proceed from there.
You need to install a copy of RealPlayer8 (if you don't already have it).
RealPlayer provides a community supported real player.
Download RealPlayer8, not RealOne for Linux! RealOne is not yet supported by the Optx patch required for Linux machines to run our tutorials.
You can download this RealPlayer at http://proforma.real.com/real/player/unix/unix.html?
Please note that you may have problems with RealPlayer8 installation unless you are installing it in /usr/local, logged in as root. Unfortunate but true.
The helpful forum is at http://realforum.real.com/cgi-bin/unixplayer/wwwthreads.pl
Download the RealPlayer patch from Optx
This is necessary for your RealPlayer to be able to read our video files.
